As recruiters, our job is to ensure we find the best candidates in a timely manner. Whether you’re using a job board or sourcing candidates in a more creative way, referrals can be extremely helpful for both the candidate and the recruiter.
As a recruiter it is not only important to ask for the referral but get into the habit of always asking for one. Also, if your company has a referral program, why not bring it up to current and passive candidates. You can build a long-term relationship! By doing so, you can create a strong candidate pipeline, help people find their dream jobs, and make your clients happy at the same time!
As a candidate, why is giving a referral important? If you help your recruiter by sending them candidates, you can build a relationship with that recruiter where they can be a streamline to your next opportunity. Whether it’s right now or in the future, that recruiter can help! Plus, there can be financial perks! For example, if your company offers $50 or $100 per referral, that can quickly add up. You might use that bonus for gas, groceries, birthdays, Christmas, or everyday expenses.
Overall, recruiters shouldn’t be afraid to ask for referrals because the more you ask, the more jobs you can fill. Candidates should also feel confident referring someone they believe would be a great fit, because at the end of the day referrals benefit everyone.
