TOPS Staffing is hiring a Mechanical Assembler for a well-established medical device manufacturer in the Pittsburgh area. This position involves hands-on mechanical work disassembling, repairing, cleaning, and reassembling specialized components. This is a great opportunity for candidates who enjoy working with their hands and are interested in precision mechanical assembly.

Position Overview
The Mechanical Assembler is responsible for disassembling, cleaning, repairing, and reassembling mechanical components and housings. This role requires attention to detail, the ability to follow work instructions, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities
• Disassemble and reassemble mechanical housings and components
• Repair, replace, paint, and buff device housings and related parts
• Clean external components using tools such as buffing machines and other cleaning methods
• Assist technicians with equipment teardown and preparation work
• Perform mechanical inspections on completed assemblies
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workstation
• Follow established safety, quality, and production procedures

Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED required
• Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with hand tools and small power tools
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
• Ability to multitask and stay organized in a production environment

Preferred Experience
• Technical school coursework or 3+ years of related mechanical or assembly experience
• Experience working with electro-mechanical equipment or devices
• Experience in manufacturing environments following ISO 9001 or ISO 13485 quality standards
• Previous work in medical device manufacturing is a plus

Physical Requirements
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task by working on several units in various stage of build process.

Repair Assembly Technician - Flexible start time
TOPS Staffing has partnered with a well-established equipment service center that is looking to add a Repair Technician to their team.  This is a full-time, hands-on position that will require you to perform intake of units coming into the division for repairs. 

Candidates should have a strong technical aptitude and the ability to follow standardized procedures.

Job Details:

Ability for advancement rather rapidly in this department with Sr. level technicians earning $30+hr.

TOPS Staffing is currently looking to hire a few qualified machine operators for a growing client in Petersburg, VA.  Our client recently started second shift (afternoon) operations, and due to this have a need to hire on several new employees.

In this position you will be operating a state of the art Peddi Bot machine, this machine is used for processing steel beams, tubes and plates.  As an operator you will be responsible for loading and unloading your machine, operation of the machine itself, making any adjustments needed from the HMI screen on the machine, and quality checks (measuring pieces and confirming holes or cut outs are accurate)

Ideally we are looking for individuals with prior fabrication or machine shop experience, however we will also consider candidates with other types of manufacturing experience, who show good job tenures in their past employments. 

Job Details:
Afternoon shift position – Monday to Friday
Hours: 3pm to 11:30pm 
Overtime is available on a somewhat regular basis.  
Pay rate: Up to $21 per hour to start ($23 to $25hr once hired by client)

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Operation of a state of the robotic laser cutting machine 
  • Loading and unloading of machine
  • Ability to read prints or shop drawings
  • Ability to measure accurately
  • Quality checks of pieces coming off your machine.
  • Deburring of parts coming out of the machine using grinders. 
  • Use of machine interface to make edits to cutting programs
  • Use of overhead cranes or forklifts on occasion to load or unload pieces from machine

Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Prior experience in a machine shop or fabrication environment is preferred.
  • Must have prior machine operation experience in a manufacturing or similar environment.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods standing
  • Lifting of up to 40lbs on occasion
