This position provides oversight of compliance-related financial activities, supports strategic financial planning, and serves as a key resource to leadership on fiscal matters. The Compliance Supervisor also manages and develops staff, promotes strong internal controls, and drives continuous improvement efforts that enhance financial accountability, operational efficiency, and stewardship of organizational resources.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee financial compliance activities related to grants, contracts, and other funding sources.
- Interpret and communicate funding requirements, reporting obligations, and compliance standards.
- Monitor compliance with funding agreements, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies.
- Coordinate and support audits, monitoring reviews, site visits, and compliance-related inquiries.
- Ensure timely, accurate, and complete financial and compliance reporting.
- Lead the development of operating budgets, forecasts, and financial plans for assigned programs and funding sources.
- Review and approve financial reports, invoices, reimbursement requests, and supporting documentation.
- Analyze financial performance, spending trends, budget variances, and funding utilization.
- Identify financial risks, compliance concerns, and operational issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support informed decision-making.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop assigned accounting and compliance staff.
- Establish workload priorities and allocate resources to meet organizational objectives.
- Promote cross-training and professional development to ensure operational continuity and staff growth.
- Review work products for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established standards.
- Develop and maintain procedures, documentation, and training resources that support
Policy, Regulatory, and Internal Control Compliance
- Ensure adherence to organizational policies, procedures, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Promote sound financial management practices and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Maintain accurate documentation and records to support financial and compliance requirements.
- Foster a culture of accountability, integrity, compliance, and continuous improvement.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Five (5) or more years of progressively responsible experience in accounting, fiscal compliance, grant accounting, nonprofit finance, or a related field.
- Experience administering government-funded contracts, reimbursement billing, and compliance reporting requirements.
- Experience managing multiple funding sources and complex contractual and regulatory requirements.
- Knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and internal control practices.
- Understanding of applicable accounting principles, regulatory standards, and compliance requirements.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial management systems.
- Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Demonstrated supervisory experience with the ability to lead, mentor, and develop staff.
